About Us

Founded November 2022

SLIFE Connect was created to help fill a need many educators have: how to best engage students with limited or interrupted formal education (SLIFE), as well as their guardians, in school and in their communities. Ideas on this website include culturally responsive teaching strategies, scaffolds, and resources educators can use in their areas of influence. There are also ideas on how to engage guardians of SLIFE and how to best communicate with them. SLIFE Connect serves as a "one-stop shop" for resources on SLIFE.

Commitment to Excellence

Our mission is to give educators culturally responsive resources so that they can best serve each SLIFE learner as well as their guardians. We believe that when SLIFE have access to content through culturally responsive teaching, and when guardians of SLIFE have effective communication with educators at their school, a more equitable education system will be built. Our goal, by creating access to content, is that each SLIFE learner will see that they have immeasurable worth and will see their potential as a global leader in society.

Remy Dankers

I have been teaching Multilingual Learners (MLs) at the high school level since 2018. Previously, in 2016, I studied abroad through SAIIE for one semester in Seville, Spain. Also, in 2017, I taught English through summer camps in Japan. I obtained my BA-S in TESOL and Spanish Education from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 2018. Then, in 2022, I completed my MA-TESOL from Hamline University. I have a passion for SLIFE and I hope that this website may help you find resources to help SLIFE navigate our U.S. school system. In my free time, I like to cook new recipes, go on walks with my dog, Zorro, and go hiking with my husband, Kris.
